One sailor was killed and three were missing as a Turkish cargo vessel sank in Greek waters in the Aegean Sea today.

Greek officials said there were 10 personnel on board the ship that capsized, of whom six were rescued and one was found dead.

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has explained that the explosion reported to have occurred at Tin Can Island port was an industrial accident that should not create panic among the international shipping community or port users.

The authority in a statement signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Chief Michael, said that the incident was caused by a burst hose which spilled fuel on a running generator that resulted in fire outbreak at a section of the Terminal.

Authorities here have launched an independent investigation into a fatal accident at sea after a Bermuda-registered cruise ship was accused of ignoring a fishing boat in distress off the coast of Panama last month.

One of the two Koreans injured in Saturday's explosion on a chemical tanker off the Mumbai harbour died of severe burns while six other injured crew members — including another Korean and a Filipino — are undergoing treatment at Mumbai's St George's Hospital.

Identifying the deceased as Munhyeon Seok-bosun, a senior official of the Mumbai Port Trust said yesterday that he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night while he was being moved to Masina Hospital from the St George's Hospital, where he was admitted initially.
